International engagement is a key part of the UK aerospace technology strategy. By collaborating with organisations from different countries, the UK aerospace sector is often provided with unique opportunities to boost the competitiveness of the UK’s aerospace industry.

International collaboration provides opportunities to:

  • Plug gaps in UK capability by gaining access to partners with skills and experience not readily available in the UK
  • Strengthen relationships with major overseas companies to position themselves for future opportunities
  • Bolster existing capability through the exchange of knowledge and information
  • Gain access to facilities and infrastructure that they are not able to access in the UK
  • Encourage greater levels of inward investment by giving organisations overseas a greater level of trust and confidence in the UK economy.

The same opportunities exist for our international colleagues and we are keen to work with the aerospace sectors of different countries where there is a mutual benefit in doing so.

This section provides an outline of four key areas associated with the ATI’s international engagement: the main funding opportunities associated with the EU (including sections on how to participate and how to access support), the impact of the UK’s withdrawal from the EU, bilateral relationships with individual countries and the ATI’s Chairmanship of Garteur.
