Gary Elliott

Chief Executive Officer

Gary Elliott is Chief Executive of the Aerospace Technology Institute (ATI). Appointed with the remit to establish the Institute and create a technology investment process & strategy for investing the £4bn fund. As of 2018 the fund had invested circa £2bn and is pushing an ever more ambitious vision for aviation, whilst developing an ecosystem for more disruptive innovation and technology.

Elliott joined the ATI in April 2014 from Hybrid Air Vehicles, where he was Chief Executive. Hybrid Air Vehicles is a private equity backed aerospace company and during his tenure Elliott led the business from its start-up phase into a stable business, winning and delivering a $600m contract for the US Army.

Prior to Hybrid Air Vehicles, Elliott held leadership roles at Lloyds Banking Group PLC (formerly HBOS PLC), where he managed the strategy & operations of the wealth management business; at NG Bailey, where he set-up and ran a new division and factory for the design and manufacture of modular mechanical & electrical systems; at BAE SYSTEMS PLC, where he was recruited onto their management fast-track and through a 9-year period undertook various roles across different divisions, joint ventures and corporate offices. Highlights include: Creation of industry e-commerce platform (Exostar); Establishment of Corporate Ventures business exploiting intellectual property in new markets; Technology development and sale of integrated communication & sensor systems, unmanned air vehicles and missile systems across international markets.

Elliott earned a first-class bachelors in aeronautical engineering from the Queens University of Belfast and an MBA from the Cranfield School of Management.
