Lead Technologist - Aerodynamics

Stuart is the Aerospace Technology Institute’s (ATI) Lead Technologist – the Institute’s specialist for aerodynamics, and the focal point for industry, research establishments and academia, for the developments of projects and UK initiatives on aerodynamic-related themes.

Stuart joined the ATI nine months ago. Previously having worked for AgustaWestland (now Leonardo) for nearly 11 years where he was a Principal Engineer working on rotor aerodynamics for helicopters and tilt rotors. During his career, Stuart has been involved in blade design and performance analysis, methods development and wind tunnel validation – for almost half of his time at the company Stuart was based in Italy. Prior to starting his career in aerospace, Stuart studied for a MEng in Aeronautical Engineering at the University of Glasgow.

For Stuart, some of his big achievements include becoming a Pilot and a Chartered Engineer! And that’s not all, Stuart also plays the drums, and has played in many bands – mostly doing rock covers. Stuart enjoys country walks and being in the company of family, friends and his Cocker Spaniel!

Stuart is an ambitious individual, always aiming for perfection in everything he does. He likes to live life to the full, and values honesty and loyalty. Being a decisive person, he knows exactly what he wants out of life!
