Strategic Portfolio Manager

Having joined the Aerospace Technology Institute (ATI) ten months ago as the Institute’s Strategic Portfolio Manager, Tommy is responsible for providing strategic leadership to the ATI portfolio. He works closely with the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) and Innovate UK, to manage the Strategic Review Committee of the UK Aerospace Research and Technology Programme and maximise the economic benefit to the UK from investments. Having become the Change Manager for the new end-to-end funding process, Tommy is leading efforts in organisational and operational change to transform the funding process across the three stakeholder organisations.

Tommy graduated from Imperial College London with a MEng Civil and Environmental Engineering. Tommy started his career in the oil industry, where he spent seven years working in oilfields on rigs in deserts, oceans and jungles. Tommy has travelled extensively during his career in oil– he has lived in four countries (Italy, Saudi Arabia, USA and UAE), and worked across 19 countries throughout the Middle East, Africa, Europe, Asia and South/North America.
Now that his is settled back in the UK, Tommy has become a British Army Reserve Officer – an Infantry Platoon Commander of the 4th Battalion Princess of Wales’s Royal Regiment.

Tommy loves keeping fit, running and painting – he is an avid oil painter in his spare time. But what he loves most of all is his beautiful baby girl Elodie who is now 5 months old.
