Alice has been instrumental in developing ATI’s in-house capability in aircraft modelling for large commercial aircraft. She led the development of the ATI Fixed Trade Calculator online tool, which supports the UK supply chain’s ability to perform simple trade space analyses on fuel burn, operating cost and CO2 emissions. Alice provides technical and economic assessment capability at whole aircraft level for proposals submitted to the ATI’s funding programmes.
During her career at the ATI, Alice has been a focal point for work on aircraft emissions analysis, single pilot operations and unmanned traffic management systems. Alice has a particular interest in the impact of technology developments on aircraft and their operating environments. Her focus is now moving to less conventional aircraft, including vertical lift and electrified commercial aircraft.
Alice engages with a range of industry stakeholders and specialists in the whole aircraft and aerodynamics technology communities and is a regular speaker at events and conferences.
Alice joined the ATI after completing her doctorate at Cranfield University in the Centre for Propulsion. Her first degree from Imperial College was in Aeronautical Engineering, which included a year at the Ecole Centrale de Lyon, France, studying aircraft propulsion. During her time at Cranfield University as a sponsored industrial Research Engineer, Alice was responsible for developing a physics-based maintenance cost methodology for large commercial aircraft engines encompassing engine and aircraft performance, maintenance and through-life cost modelling.
Outside work, Alice is actively engaged in voluntary work both as a Girlguiding Unit Leader and as a STEM ambassador, supporting events to encourage youth engagement with STEM subjects and careers. She is a keen dinghy sailor who competes at local, national, and European events and she also loves swimming and skiing.
