Stuart is the ATI’s specialist for aerodynamics and the focal point for industry, research establishments and academia for the development of projects and UK initiatives on aerodynamic-related themes. Stuart is a representative on the European Rotorcraft Forum organising committee, the RAeS Aerodynamics Specialist Group, EPSRC’s Engineering Strategic Advisory Team, the National Wind Tunnel Facility Advisory Board and GARTEUR (Group for Aeronautical Research and Technology in Europe).
Stuart joined the ATI in 2017, having previously worked for AgustaWestland (now Leonardo) for nearly 11 years where he was a Principal Engineer working on rotor aerodynamics for helicopters and tilt rotors. During his career, Stuart has been involved in blade design and performance analysis, methods development and wind tunnel testing. Prior to starting his career in aerospace, Stuart studied for a MEng in Aeronautical Engineering at the University of Glasgow.
For Stuart, some of his big achievements include becoming a pilot and a Chartered Engineer. He is also a musician and has played the drums in many bands.
