Edward works closely with stakeholders in the development and realisation of aerospace technologies in propulsion and power. This is a critical area for the Institute, supporting traditional suppliers to deliver major technology programmes, as well as identifying new players looking to develop disruptive concepts and technologies. Edward frequently visits key stakeholders to understand their current and future technology ambitions and encourages them to form constructive consortia and partnerships to meet these challenges, including looking beyond the sector for innovative solutions. He also supports a broader range of activities, including generating content for the ATI’s UK Aerospace Technology Strategy, road-mapping technologies, supporting key UK infrastructure capabilities and supporting cross-cutting agendas and programmes.
Prior to joining the ATI, Edward worked as a mechanical engineer in the oil and gas industry, where he was responsible for managing the maintenance activities of highly critical mechanical, electrical and process equipment on an offshore platform in the North Sea. He holds a MEng in Aero-Mechanical Engineering from the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow.
Edward enjoys taking on challenging tasks that take him out of his comfort zone, both in the workplace and his passion for the outdoors, where he enjoys hiking, running, cycling and sailing.
