Advanced Technologist (Systems and Propulsion)

We are looking for a highly capable Advanced Technologist to join our Systems and Propulsion team.

About the role

  • Reports to the Head of Technology Systems and Propulsion
  • Leading the development of the ATI’s Systems Virtual Validation Platform modelling
  • Supports the development and regular update of assigned areas of the ATI’s integrated UK Aerospace Technology Strategy and associated technology roadmaps
  • Working with ATI stakeholders to develop strategies, plans and programme proposals for assigned areas of strategy
  • Evaluating the technical benefits and working with CoS team to establish economic impact of proposed ATI programmes as part of the proposal development process
  • Support the development of relationships with UK companies and the academic community to support the activities of the ATI and strengthen and grow UK capability.
  • Support the development of technology communities through organisation of appropriate committees, events etc. for UK companies, academia and relevant national technical committees
  • Supporting the development of ATI international technology relationships and profile through participation in appropriate international technical committees and conferences
  • Supporting showcasing opportunities to publicise the successes of aerospace technology programmes.

About You

Qualifications/Experience

  • Degree qualified in Engineering, Mathematics or Physical Sciences
  • Demonstrate consistent achievement in aerospace technology and may be active in the community through membership of relevant industry committees and/or publication and conferences.
  • Will have an in-depth knowledge and capability in one or more of the following areas of technology, preferably gained through working in the area:
    • Complex electronic and mechanical systems, digital wireless and wired communications
    • Safety critical control systems & software
    • System integration & component testing, with advanced diagnostics
    • Vehicle/Sub-system Health & Usage Monitoring
    • Modelling/simulation of complex systems
  • May have led the definition of technology/research activities.
  • Preferably familiar with technology road mapping techniques and associated tools
  • May have led research and technology projects in industry or in academia
  • May demonstrate a working knowledge of government funding for research & technology programmes
  • Preferably used to working in collaborative technology programmes with multiple partners.
