Advanced Turbine Technologies (SILOET II Project 15)

This ATI-supported project targeted the development and verification of a wide, but holistic set of turbine technologies for improved component and sub-system competitiveness of future turbines. Starting with the inclusion of a number of novel turbine technologies in the Turbine Endurance Demonstrator (TED) engines to achieve the long term goal of improved fuel efficiency and specific fuel consumption prior to product insertion. This continues with the advancement of aerodynamic and cooling aspects, considering suitable means of rapid manufacturing methods, and secondly the project was also looking into introducing new high temperature material capabilities for highly corrosive environments: a significant range of technologies required for the next generation of core turbines for aero engines will be covered within this project.
