Hyperflux

Hyperflux was a UK-based software development programme, designed to drive cutting edge research into the industrial application of advanced fluid dynamics. The project developed zCFD, Zentoech’s computational fluid dynamics solver, which helped to improve the accuracy of the aerodynamic modelling of undercarriage and nacelles, optimising performance and reducing costs.

The project resulted in a wide range of benefits for engineering companies in aero, automotive and transport infrastructure. The software is already being applied in an industry setting and is available for download from the Zenotech website.

  • All licenses are unlimited in scale.
  • Usage for UK research institutions is free of charge.
  • Anyone can use the software for free on a single device, including a GPU.

The project made realistic and relevant test cases available to researchers so the software has an impact on industry design and certification methods directly or through research partners to the goal of virtual certification.

In Computational Aero Acoustics, Hyperflux furthered the fields of landing gear noise prediction and automotive aero acoustics. Application of these techniques shows an advantage in scaling simulations with very high spatial accuracy and the propagation of acoustic waves.
