WHAT WE DO
The ATI supports the UK aerospace sector to increase global market share through technology development.
INTRODUCTION Our vision for the sector
Our vision is for the UK to double its share of the global aerospace market from $9 billion in 2025 to over $18 billion by 2035, creating high value jobs across the UK and providing global leadership in decarbonisation.
To realise this, we provide direction through a challenging market-led technology strategy and invest in a dynamic portfolio of research and technology (R&T). In addition we deliver expert insight, modelling, tools, resources and events to accelerate this technology development and maximise UK competitiveness.
DESTINATION ZERO THE TECHNOLOGY STRATEGY FOR UK AEROSPACE
The UK aerospace technology strategy serves as an ambitious blueprint for growth in the industry and sets out the investment scope for the ATI Programme. Mapping the route to 2050, it is an essential guide to maximising our market share and achieving our sustainability commitments.
FUNDING INVESTMENT IN AEROSPACE
The ATI Programme is a dynamic portfolio of investments that de-risk innovation, attract further private investment and position the UK at the forefront of sustainable aerospace technology. Each investment is a partnership between government and industry. Every pound of public investment is matched by private commitment, ensuring shared ownership and a clear focus on impact.
Discover how to apply for funding to support your organisation in advancing technology aligned with the UK technology strategy Destination Zero.
The ATI undertakes strategic research and analysis to provide independent insight for the benefit of the sector. Using the expertise of our team and partners we test, validate and challenge hypotheses and assumptions to inform, inspire, advise and advocate on the questions that matter most to the sector. Recent research projects have included FlyZero, the Hydrogen Capability Network and Market Spotlights. ATI research is free to access.
Achieving the aerospace sector’s ambitious targets requires revolution, rather than evolution. The challenges of meeting the rate ramp up while developing new more efficient technologies relies on accelerated innovation. The ATI is backing the sector to meet these challenges with support to navigate the complex landscape provided through the ATI Hub.
The ATI produces high-quality research and analysis for the benefit of UK aerospace. The ATI toolkit offers a suite of free-to-use online tools to guide your R&D priorities including assessment of technologies at aircraft level, perspectives on markets to 2050 and reference models for IP-neutral collaboration. Plus, our library of publications features offers the chance to deep dive into a specific technology area in expert-authored reports.
