Alan Newby

Alan is responsible for Rolls-Royce's global technology strategy and delivery of the supporting programmes.

As Director of Research and Technology at Rolls-Royce, Alan is responsible for the formulation of the near-term and long-term group technology strategy and delivery of the supporting programmes to underpin product development and enable new business opportunities. The role also includes the leadership of the global Research and Technology Business Development and partnership activity.

Previous engineering leadership roles included Director, Aerospace Technology and Future Programmes, Engineering Director Rolls-Royce Deutschland and Chief Engineer of the collaborative V2500 programme. He joined Rolls-Royce in 1987 from NEI Parsons.

Alan is a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering, Institution of Mechanical Engineers and Royal Aeronautical Society. External appointments include non-Executive Director of the Henry Royce Institute, Aerospace Technology Institute and Chair of the Derby Branch of the Rolls-Royce Heritage Trust.
