The Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (BEIS), through the Aerospace Technology Institute (ATI) and Innovate UK, will invest up to £8 million in research and technology projects to deliver world leading aerospace technologies in the UK. This is the first in a series of collaborative calls. The next call is expected within 12 months’ time.

The Call opens for Expressions of Interest on 24th September 2018.  See below for key dates.

The aim of this collaborative R&D competition call is to support and accelerate industry investment focused on supply chain companies. This competition seeks high risk, high impact projects that demonstrate future-thinking, revolutionary and disruptive solutions to UK aerospace challenges.

Your proposal needs to align with one of the technical priority areas identified or align to the UK Aerospace Technology Strategy. A full list of the technical priority areas identified can be found below

There are three streams to apply for;

  1. Collaborative fast track
  2. Collaborative research and development
  3. Collaborative feasibility studies:

Applications for this funding are assessed:

  • for strategic fit with the UK Aerospace Technology Strategy and competition specific technical themes by the ATI
  • for policy review by BEIS
  • by independent assessment process by Innovate UK

Collaborative fast track and collaborative research and development are a two-stage application and assessment process. Collaborative feasibility studies have a single stage application and assessment.

For this competition all streams must be business-led and collaborative.

All applicants must sign the Institute’s Framework Agreement before submitting proposals.
