The UK Government has given an order for more than 10,000 units in the fight against Covid-19.The Ventilator Challenge UK consortium has today announced that it is working with incredible determination and energy to scale up production of much-needed ventilators. It has been announced this morning that the UK Government has given an order for more than 10,000 units. Full details can be found on the Ventilator Challenge UK website.The consortium is made up of companies from multiple sectors including aerospace, medical, automotive, defence and electronics, and is led by the High Value Manufacturing catapult.Gary Elliott, CEO of the ATI said:“The rapid turnaround of this new design and manufacturing capability, meeting an important and urgent need in the UK’s response to Covid-19, demonstrates the skills and expertise within UK engineering, and what can be achieved when different sectors pull together. It also shows the commitment of these companies and organisations to making a positive contribution to the UK.
