FlyZero’s Project Director, Chris Gear, welcomes the newest team members to FlyZeroToday we welcomed 20 new members of the FlyZero team in roles across our design, engineering, project management, commercial and sustainability teams. The whole of the FlyZero team and ATI extends a warm welcome to these new colleagues, as they join our mission to realise zero-carbon emission commercial flight by the end of the decade. The new team members join us from companies across our industry and beyond including Rolls-Royce, Airbus, GE Aviation, Easyjet and Mott MacDonald as we bring together experts to jointly tackle the challenges of realising truly sustainable aviation here in the UK.There’s plenty for the team to get stuck into from day one as we embark on our strategic research project investigating potential zero-carbon emission aircraft concepts and the industrial landscape we need to create from propulsion to regulations policies, systems to supply chain and economics to environmental impact. Together, we will be exploring options for fuel types, whole aircraft integration, potential market opportunity as well as the future industrial landscape including design, manufacture, technology and skills.Last week, I was pleased to talk to Flight Global about FlyZero and we spoke about our open minded and independent view on the future with the aim of working together to identify what the right solution might be.
