James O’Doherty-Jennings

Advanced Technologist - Whole Aircraft

Technology

James joined the ATI in 2023 and is responsible for delivering reference aircraft models to the UK aerospace sector to enable collaboration and drive innovation. He is also utilising his experience in structural modelling to enhance methods for incorporating wings of the future into the ATI whole aircraft model library.

Before joining the ATI, James worked for Rolls-Royce in a number of different roles. Having initially joined as a year-long intern and then a graduate, James developed expertise in structural loads modelling for future aircraft concepts and re-engine opportunities. He then led the structural work package on an ATI-funded programme, Powerplant Integration with Platform Systems, based at the Aerospace Integration Research Centre at Cranfield University.

Most recently, James utilised his coaching and customer service skills whilst based in Singapore, leading the delivery of in-field support for the Trent900 engine on the Airbus A380 with Singapore Airlines. With this experience, he brings a view of aircraft, airport and airline operations along with the challenges of working with highly complex engineering products in a real world application.

Outside work, he enjoys being in the countryside with his family and golden retriever, learning about new cultures through experience and spending time making his friends and family laugh.
